Your Project, Our Precision. Powering the Future with BIM
At JD McGeown Limited, we harness the transformative power of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to deliver comprehensive electrical services that are precise, efficient, and future-ready. BIM is more than just a tool; it’s a process that enables us to create and manage all the information on a project from inception to completion.
We fully committed to the principles and practices outlined in the UK BIM Framework and aligns with the internationally recognised standards for Building Information Modelling (BIM), specifically the BS EN ISO 19650 series. Our approach ensures structured information management throughout the lifecycle of construction projects, supporting collaboration, transparency, and efficiency. We actively implement BIM Level 2 protocols in accordance with:
- BS 1192:2007 – Collaborative production of architectural, engineering, and construction information
- PAS 1192-2:2013 – Specification for information management for the capital/delivery phase
- BS EN ISO 19650-1 and 19650-2 – International standards for managing information over the whole life cycle of a built asset
Our internal BIM team are equipped to accept and work within the latest tools and training such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360, to support model authoring, clash detection, and collaborative workflows. We follow BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and maintain a Common Data Environment (CDE) to ensure accurate and timely data exchange across all project stakeholders.
-
Intelligent Design
Utilising BIM, our designs are intelligent, data-rich models that provide a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of your electrical systems. This allows for a collaborative environment where all stakeholders can access and interact with the design in real-time.
-
Enhanced Collaboration
BIM facilitates a seamless flow of information across all disciplines involved in the construction process. By fostering an integrated approach, we ensure that every aspect of the electrical design is coordinated with the architectural and engineering plans, reducing conflicts and changes during construction.
-
Improved Accuracy
Our BIM process significantly reduces errors and omissions by allowing for virtual construction before any work begins on-site. This predictive approach ensures that potential issues are addressed early, saving time and resources.
-
Efficient Project Management
With BIM, we can streamline project management by automating routine tasks, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle. This leads to better scheduling, cost control, and overall project efficiency.
-
Sustainability and Compliance
BIM aids in creating sustainable designs by analysing energy consumption patterns and optimizing systems for efficiency. It also ensures that all electrical installations comply with the relevant codes and regulations, providing peace of mind that your project is built to last.
-
Facility Management
Post-construction, BIM models serve as a valuable resource for facility management. They contain detailed information about every component of the electrical system, simplifying maintenance and future upgrades.
