PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Student accommodation at Guthrie House in Fitzwilliam Street provides purpose built student housing comprising of 6 flats, each accommodating 13/14 students with a kitchen and a common room.

The refurbishment included installation of electrical service such as lighting and emergency lighting, public address systems, alarms and security systems in kitchens and bedrooms.

Additional QUB student accommodation at 11-19 Mount Charles and 26-50 Mount Charles was also given a refurbishment. These houses allow 7/8 students to live in one house in self-contained rooms with communal kitchen and bathroom.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Following the decision to close the existing secondary school, JD McGeown where in appointed as part of a supply team to carry out the £1.57 Million electrical engineering services installation for the £14.5 Million rebuild of the school on an adjacent wide area site.

The project was made up of 2 phases (JD McGeown worked on both phases) and it was to provide 3 storey classroom blocks, multi-function hall, design and technology block, gym, changing facilities, garage, and office/administration space.

The college also serves as an Entertainment Venue and Multi-sports venue in after-school hours.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This was a major new-build extension & part refurbishment to the existing leisure centre with a value of £1,005,000.

The new facility now contains modern performance and dance studios, educational resource areas, a modern gymnasium and fitness suite, a new multi-purpose sports hall, a completely refurbished swimming pool with new plant and a water filtration systems along with associated wet and dry changing facilities and a new café and reception area.

Existing mechanical and electrical plant was also replaced and complemented with additional services including a biomass boiler and associated combined heat and power (CHP) system.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project involved the development of sectional buildings at Belfast City Hospital.

These modular type units are a temporary solution but demand to be fully operational and hence must be fully electrically compliant for our client.

We view health and safety and environmental management to be of paramount importance during all projects, particularly so in the case of acute hospital sites. Extensive coordination by our team and with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust ensured completion of the works were secured on time and within budget.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The works included a new 6 bed ward for Ante-natal/pre-delivery care, Birthing Suite, Treatment Rooms, Nurses Station, Staff Training Room and DDA compliant wet room and sanitary facilities.

The project entailed internal demolitions, reconfiguration of existing bed space, installation of new floor, wall and ceiling finishes, and associated mechanical and electrical services in the maternity ward which was maintained as a live patient area for the duration of the contract.

Due to the complexity of the site and requirement of the ward space to remain fully operational at all times the work was completed under a phased programme which included out of hours working and decant arrangements with existing patients.

All works were fully coordinated in agreement with both estates management and ward staff in order to minimise disruption and ensure the health and safety of all patients.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project entailed the upgraded and refurbishment of the offices of the Family Resource Centre based at 2a James Street in Newtownards.

The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust lead the refurbishment of this tired existing social work building. The structure of the existing building was maintained but accentuated.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project involved the redevelopment of one of the city’s most prominent corner locations facing Belfast’s iconic City Hall.

The existing 1960s precast concrete panelled building was demolished to make way for an eight-storey, ultra-modern, air-conditioned office development, designed to accommodate the latest IT requirements and provide a fully flexible environment in terms of floor layout and services provision.

Donegall Square South in Belfast city was developed at a cost of £ 7.7m. The project involved an 9 Storey office development in the inner city providing 7,300m squared of commercial space.

Donegall Square South is now headquarters to the Bank of Ireland and stands as a landmark project in Belfast City Centre.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Ramada Plaza is set in the Lagan Valley Regional Park in Belfast and is a 4 star deluxe hotel.

The project consisted of the construction of a new 120 bedroom, 2/3 storey hotel with conference facilities, swimming pool, fitness area, partially covered residents car parking, main parking and associated site works and drainage.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

JD McGeown worked alongside the construction company FB.McKee on the 8th floor office fit out at Clarence Street West in Belfast’s City Centre.

The works demanded the complete fitting out of the 8th floor office suites which entailed floor, wall, ceilings finishes, mechanical & electrical installations. All works had to be conducted while still allowing access and full function of the building throughout with minimal disruption to the ten-storey building which is neighboured by a 145 bedroom Radisson Park Inn hotel.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project involved an extension of 30 new bedrooms to the existing recently built Premier Inn Hotel on the Hillsborough Road, Lisburn. The works were conducted in such a way to allow the hotel to remain functional and without upsetting its daily running to staff and customers.
