J.D.McGeown Ltd are delighted to continue our unrivalled expertise and experience working once again with Queens University Belfast having been appointed by Alskea Contracts Ltd to carry out the internal reconfiguration, refurbishment and additions at the Northern Ireland Technology Centre for Queen’s University Belfast. The project involves extensive alterations to the existing electrical infrastructure with works due to commence mid-September with an overall contract period of 17 weeks.

We are pleased to have delivered the new alterations, internal refurbishment and fit-out to the third floor of the Whitla Medical Building for Queen’s University Belfast. We created new offices, write up rooms for students, laboratories and open spaces, formation of new cold room and dark room. All floors within the building remained occupied during the works and unrestricted access to these floors were required. Ongoing teaching took place in the WMB and staff access provided to the building at all times. The high input of new building services installed whilst maintaining services to the remain floors was critical to the success of the project. Working with SAMUEL STEVENSON & SONS LIMITED, WHITE YOUNG GREEN LIMITED, Williams and Shaw and WH Stephens in successfully delivering the project. Our site team consisted of JD McGeown Ltd , Devlin Mechanical Ltd, & Ashgrove Contract Furniture Ltd and DSSNI.

JD.McGeown Ltd is delighted to announce that works have been successfully complete on time and within budget at the RVHs Children’s Haematology wards.
Working to meet the needs of our client Belfast Health & Social Care Trust JD McGeown provided the Electrical Services Installation on this project. The works involved the conversion of a link corridor and courtyard into 2 new isolations rooms, nurse station, staff room and office, preparation room, link corridor and associated plant areas. The works demanded working in a live critical care health environment, with an overall contract period of 28 weeks.

 

JD McGeown’s electrical work has been successfully completed on the £2m commercial project at Custom House at Merchants Quay, Newry. This exciting new development is the largest scheme to be undertaken in the City for nearly a decade.
Standing on a 0.7acre site on what was the former tax office, the development comprises a striking 3 storey commercial building. The ground floor provides 5 retail/business units, the first floor is occupied by South Down Dental Clinic and the second floor comprises office/residential accommodation.
JD McGeown is delighted to have worked with the construction team on the delivery of this scheme which has added vibrancy and rejuvenated commercial life in Newry City Centre.

JD McGeown is delighted to be on site again with Killowen Contracts and this time it is at St Colm’s High School, Dunmurry. St Colm’s is undertaking refurbishments to both its toilet block and science labs with all works to be complete for school starting in September. A tight time schedule indeed which JD McGeown will manage to successfully deliver on.

JD McGeown Ltd has completed its electrical installation works on phase 2 at Victoria College Belfast just in time for the new school year. Under this second phase, new hi tech art and design suites and additional laboratory teaching spaces have been created,adding to the new sports complex and playing fields which were completed as part of phase 1. This phase 2 schedule of work was carried out with diligent care and planning to ensure minimal disruption to the normal school environment within the Victoria College Cranmore campus.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The refurbishment of the Old Physics building was complete in December 2014 and was the first phase in the consolidation and integration of the School of Mathematics and Physics (MAP) accommodation at QUB. This was followed by Phase 2 which was complete in April 2016, in the creation of a MAP Teaching Centre in the former International and Postgraduate Student Centre. Now this project is the third and final phase of the upgrading of the new Physics department.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Victoria College in Belfast is one of fifty schools in Northern Ireland to benefit from a capital investment scheme from the School Enhancement Program (SEP), which funds refurbishment/ extension projects and provision of sports facilities.
The project, designed by architects Povall Worthington comprises four key elements, with a phased program of work carried out in order to secure minimal disruption to the normal school environment within the Victoria College campus.
Under phase two of this project, a new hi-tech art and design suite and additional laboratory teaching spaces have been created.
