The Bayview Adult Unit in Bangor was commissioned by South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust at a cost of £4.6m. The project was highly commended in 2009 RICS Awards.
This project entailed a purpose built unit constructed with the objective of providing services for the elderly with learning disabilities and or dementia, so that they can live more independent lives.
People come to the Unit on a regular basis to promote health and well-being by participating in various activities and also in the wider community.
The resource centre offers up to 50 places per day.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project comprised the construction of a 2500m² extension to an existing nursing home on a restricted sloping site within a residential area in Belfast.
The extension was over three levels and was built on a sloping site, including internal courtyards and comprising some 30 en-suite single bedrooms, office accommodation, kitchens, stores, communal/social areas and ancillary accommodation.
The works included the complete mechanical and electrical package, including passenger lifts and extensive site and ground works.
The refurbishment of the existing building now allows for 86 bed spaces within the home.

This new build 3 Star hotel was the first IBS Hotel in Northern Ireland and includ-ed124 bedrooms comprising ten storeys plus a basement. The accommodation in-cludes a reception area, restaurant with kitchen and licensed bar, ground floor of-fices and staff quarters, laundry, boiler/plant and storage rooms.
The works were undertaken in a very busy city centre location on the corner of King Street and Castle Street in Belfast with the hotel covering the entire footprint of the site and constructed adjacent to a multi-storey apartment development.

This project involved an extension and refurbishment of an existing hotel previously known as Renshaws located in the University area of Belfast.
The front entrance to the 3 storey hotel was retained while the rear was demolished to make way for a 5 storey extension to provide a contemporary 56 bedroom hotel with dining, lounge and back of house facilities.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This 10,000sqm complex is located on Belfast’s York Road was a new build project commissioned by Belfast City Council. The project was the first in the UK to combine Health, leisure and Library services under one roof. The development was undertaken at a cost of £18.25m and now stands as a focal point for the Community in North Belfast.
The healthcare services span over three floors and include dentistry, GP practices, a rehab suite and minor procedures units. The leisure facilities include two swimming pools, sports hall, fitness suite, ten–pin bowling alley and a 3–storey children’s soft–play area. A large welcoming open–plan community lending library is situated in a central position between the health and leisure facilities, spanning over the main entrance concourse.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
JD Mc Geown was appointed as the M & E contractor to carry out the internal fit-out of units at Plot 6 of the Gas Works complex on the Ormeau Rd, Belfast under a Design and Build arrangement with the client.
Set within a busy business district of the city, the building was occupied on one floor level by the landlord and was surrounded in close proximity by other commercial businesses.
The newly provided office layout includes 100 desk spaces and a number of cellular offices, meeting rooms and a training room, with ancillary accommodations, such as a canteen, print rooms and a fully operational communications room with leak detection and gas suppression systems.
The office space now boasts a highly serviced building with natural ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences (SMDBS) is one of a small number of medical schools in the UK that continues to offer students the opportunity to study human anatomy by cadaveric dissection.
Anatomy has been taught in the MBC since 1968 and the existing accommodation comprises purpose built dissecting rooms (main and minor) with supporting display areas, preparation/storage rooms and seminar rooms on the first floor; histology lab, preparation room/storage area and a seminar room on the ground floor and an anatomy mortuary area in the basement.
Although ‘fit for purpose’ the current mortuary facilities, which have had little refurbishment or upgrade since 1968, were at the end of their useful life and in need of significant refurbishment. The refurbishment works included a full upgrade of the teaching facilities within the Main Dissection room.
The mortuary facility and the overall HSC will remained operational throughout the works, and managing health and safety and minimizing disruption was a major focus for the design and programming of these works.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Belfast High School has benefitted under the Schools Enhancement Programme –Sports Facility with the development of a new Sports Hall, Drama Studio, Fitness Suite and associated changing and amenities as well as a new AstroTurf hockey pitch and new car parking.
The new 690 square meter Sports Hall was a new build project requiring the demolition of the existing sports facilities at Belfast High School.
The electrical project was to upgrade the main NIE supply to the existing school and install the complete electrical installation in the new Sports Hall and hockey pitch.
